Thee Nails Thursday 9/16/2021
Three Nails Thursday is a weekly bit of items that have helped me through my week. Thursday is my Friday, as my work schedule is Sunday through Thursday (Normally). Considering all that is happening, I need some inspiration to keep me focused on the task at hand. So I’m sharing with you three things that keep me grounded, focused, and inspired throughout my week. Here are the three nails!
Here's Three Things that helped me this week!
A Song I'm listening to.
Keep Me in the Moment by Jeremy Camp.
Many years ago, during the dedication of one of our girls, a statement about how fast kids grow up. At the time, I just listened and agreed. But, the reality was that it does go fast. Life does more than just march on. That march is more of a sprint. The scripture states that life is but a vapor. Another translation says it like this; How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone (James 4:14).
If I’ve learned anything during the past eighteen months, it’s not to take anything for granted. In a matter of a few days, things, people, places, travel, hobbies, and moments were halted. We were all allowed to see a whole different life without the things, people, places, and everyday life happening. Now that those are again happening in our life, we should endeavor not to miss the moments. Capture every moment, let the moments with people be filled with the intention to enjoy every moment to the fullest. We’ve learned not only is this life sprinting by but life can be snatched away. So, stay in the moment, and enjoy it.
A Verse that spoke to me.
Psalm 38:12–14 (NKJV):
Those also who seek my life lay snares for me; Those who seek my hurt speak of destruction, And plan deception all the day long.13 But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; And I am like a mute who does not open his mouth.14 Thus I am like a man who does not hear, And in whose mouth is no response.
Everyone has individuals who do not have your best interests at heart n their life. There will always be people who are bitter, envious, jealous, and filled with malice. That’s what unregenerated hearts produce. We cannot control the feelings, actions, and plans that they have. We can only control ours.
Winston Churchill said, “You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.”
A Quote that inspired me.
“The past is a stepping stone, not a millstone” – Robert Plant
Your past should shape who you’ve become instead of grinding you into submission. Unfortunately, many people have allowed mistakes, people, and wounds from the past to paralyze them in the present, thereby destroying their future.
Take all that hurt, pain, and lessons learned, and make something out of yourself. Turn the pain into gain, mistakes into missions, and don’t allow the people who’ve wounded or hurt you to paralyze you. Instead, use all of that as motivation and climb up higher.
It’s like the old story about the donkey who fell into the hole. They couldn’t find a way to retrieve the donkey out of the hole. So they decided to bury the donkey in the hole. As they threw the dirt onto the donkey, he’d just shake it off and step up. They kept throwing the dirt; he’d shake it off and step up. This process continued until the donkey climbed out of the hole. What they meant to bury him with was what he used to climb out of the problem. You can do the same in your life, you can either succumb to what they are throwing at you and on you or use it to climb higher.
